Okay here we go:

1. Log-in to http://blogspot.com and create an account if you don’t all ready have one. This is a free service which is one of the reasons I like this method.

2. Once you have joined blogspot you need to log into your account and create your first lead capture page. You should see a tab that says “Create Your Blog”.

3. Now you need to put in your blog title, which should contain your name or some variation of your name: Something you can use over an extended period of time. Remember this is part of the branding process so you don’t want to be changing it because you’ve come up with something you think is better.

4 Follow the form and put in a url for your blog. Blogspot will then tell you if it is available. You might be okay right off the bat or you might have to try a couple of versions.

5 Once you are successful you click on the continue button.

6. Now you can choose a template. Don’t spend a huge amount of time on this, if your decide later you don’t like it, you simply pick a new template.

7. Once you have selected your template, click continue. You are now ready to set up your lead capture page.

8 Now you need to go to blog layout to set up the look of your lead capture page. You will see a number of  blocks that can be manipulated. Depending on your template you will see a box that says “ADD a Gadget”. click on this and you will get a pop-up menu.  You want the one  that says HTML Java Script.

9. Before you click on this you need your sign up code you created using my previous article   http://listgrowandprosper.com/?p=47. You need to log into you auto responder. You set up a campaign called Personal Contact list or the like. You will see a tab that says ‘Form’ or “Create Form depending on your auto responder. If you followed my directions in the previous article you have created your form. You click on the HTML button on the far right and you get a pop-up menu with the html code. Copy this code.

10. Now go back to your blogsport page click on the HTML Java drop down menu and paste in the code, type in a title like Join My Contact List in the space provided,  then click save. You will now be returned to the blogspot page where you can move the sign up box to where ever you would like to place it.

11 Go back to the Add a Gadget Button, and add the one that says picture and upload your picture and place it where you would like the picture to be. Your picture and your form should be fairly close together.

12. Fill out a brief description of yourself in the about me box.

Now you have  a lead capture page to promote. You can add a post describing the purpose of your contact list.

You should test the form to ensure that sign-ups are arriving at the correct location in your auto responder.

Setting Up Your Contact List Campaign.

Before you can start capturing names for your contact list you need an auto responder with a Campaign set up to receive those leads.

If you don`t have an auto responder I recommend the auto responder at:

The first thing you want to do, once you have your auto responder  is set up a Campaign. I recommend something like: “My Personal List” or “My Personal Contact List”.

Setting up campaigns is a little different for each auto responder. But in general the principal is the same so I will go ahead and show you how to set up a campagin in the GVO e-responder.

1.  Login to GVO

Login to your GVO back office here http://gogvo.com/affiliates

2.  Access the eResponder

On the left side bar on your left, you will see a links to the various GVO programs: You need to click on the  top one that says eResponder. This takes you into the auto responder back office.

Once inside the eResponder area, you will be directed to the Campaign area.  Our first order of business is to setup a list (campaign) for your personal contacts. (by  the way, you will see a little video icon in the top right hand corner. This is also great info.)

3.  Add a Campaign (List)

At the top of the page click on the Campaign file. You will get a menu selection below that. click on Add Campaign

Another box comes up so you need to fill it in.

Campaign Name:  Personal Contacts ( or what ever you are calling it)

Description:  Describe what the list is for, in this case personal contacts.

From Name: Your First and Last Name

From Email: The email address you want your readers to see

Notification email: The email address where you would like to receive notice of new subscribers

At the bottom click on the “Notify about new subscriber” so you receive an email update to alert you to new subscribers.

Once you have completed that step you are ready for part four.

4.  The Optin Message

This is the message the your subscribers will receive to confirm their subscription to your list.  There is a default option which you need to go in an edit with your own information. You want to make is short, telling them the list hey have subscribed to and a sentence to get them to opt-in. You can just edit the first part if you wish. Do things as simply as possible.

SUBJECT:  Hello %%SubscriberFullName%%

Hello %%SubscriberFullName%%

Thank you for subscribing to my
in-house list.

Please click the link below to
confirm your subscription.  This
helps to keep our list clean from
spam.

Please understand that this myth is just that. There is no short cut to success but work and sweat equity. The less money you have to invest the harder you will need to work to achieve the same results.

Don’t get me wrong, the mechanical aspects of building a list and creating ads and getting posted are straight forward, and with a little work anyone can  master those tasks.

With judicious use of investment dollars, advertising on the net to get your product or service seen does not have to be expensive.

But you do have to TAKE ACTION.

No action equals no results no matter what that program promised.

I start with one admonishment: Do Something For Your Business Everyday!

To begin with I suggest that you create a routine and stick to it.

For instance you decide to sit down at X hour every day and work for X hours… X number of days a week. Yes things will come up preventing that…but stick to your routine as if your life depended on it.

Don’t just sit there reading emails, do something which can be as simple as emailing your list, or added people to your list, or phoning a prospect.

Even if you have only one hour a day…if you use your time wisely you will find success.

As an example I have a Global Domains International Business. About 4 months ago  my GDI business wasn’t really going anywhere, but I could see the potential. So I committed to do one thing everyday…and that one thing was to send out my one hundred invites everyday. Now this takes only a few minutes a day…but I have not missed once since I made the committment. At first not alot happened, but I kept going… and before long my business began to buzz.

When you are committed to doing something every day you’ll be amazed how doorways begin to open for you.

Now there is a lot more to success on the internet but this is the starting point.

When I go to bed, before lights out, I ask myself what I did to help my business along that day.  This is great re-enforcement.

These are my notes from the GDI Corporate Webinar for Tuesday Oct 27. While the information was intended for GDI users you could use this for any business you are promoting.

This really applies to any dreams, but especially to online marketing where there is a tendency to believe that success will come without paying the price, which simple is not true.

Kevin Sousa presented the topic of Social Media and did a fabulous job.

Here are some of his points. Once the link is posted next week I will post it here so you can go back and listen to the best Corporate Webinar, I’ve heard so far. Kevin talked mostly about Facebook and Twitter.

• KLT principle: Your objective is to get your contacts to know like and trust you. You want to post information about yourself, what you are doing and helpful information others can use.
• Don’t directly post your GDI link.
• Visit your social site once a day to add friends about ten to fifteen a day, no more than that.
• Join groups that share your interests like online marketing. Then invite the members of those  groups to be friends.
• When you send requests make the invitation personal.
• Take five minutes each day and scan the comments on your page and leave your comments. This builds recognition and trust.
• You can mention your blog posts (but don’t just do that all the time.)
• Post quotes, making sure that you acknowledge source when you post.
• Post a string of these over a few days. This builds the your KLT .
• Facebook is medium range strategy in that your posts and comments will be visible longer.
• Twitter is short range. You get an immediate kick when you use Twitter but don’t expect it to last more than a few hours at the most.

I’ll post directions for that soon. I just want to get my page set-up first just to show you an example.
